Conserving threatened and endangered species, managing biodiversity, controlling invasive species and preventing exotic incursions are challenges faced by countries world wide. Such challenges are made even more difficult by our limited understanding of where species occur. We believe a greater level of wildlife detection and monitoring data is necessary to inform better biodiversity and environmental management decisions and outcomes. eDNA presents an exciting opportunity to not only make detection data easier to collect, but also open the door to more data then has previously been possible, particularly when it comes to mapping biodiversity on broad scale.
Cutting edge species detection is at the heart of what we do at EnviroDNA. With eDNA technology we are excited to offer our clients the opportunity to employ a more sensitive and cost effective means of detecting wildlife when compared to many traditional methods. Methods such as trapping, visual and audio surveys and electrofishing, can be costly and laborious, may suffer from inaccuracies and are difficult to perform in less accessible habitats. eDNA presents an opportunity for innovation in wildlife detection, and we are dedicated to making it accessible to industry.
We offer eDNA species detection in two ways:
1.TARGETED SPECIES TESTS: honing in on one native or invasive species of interest (particularly valuable for low abundance or cryptic species)
2. BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENTS: targeting all species within a group such as fish, decapods and amphibians (great for biodiversity baselines and monitoring)
