More abundant in lakes than in flowing water, the freshwater catfish is a carnivorous bottom feeder, eating a wide variety of foods. The hipster of the fish world, distinctively it has four pairs of whiskery barbels like a beard around the mouth. Once widespread in eastern Australia, populations in the Murray-Darling Basin have declined significantly since the 1980s.
This species eDNA probe was developed for the freshwater catfish found in the lower Murray-Darling system. Call us to discuss its applicability to other populations and regions.
To detect the species you have selected we can use eDNA water samples. By filling out the form below, you can better understand what's involved in an eDNA project and gain an estimated cost.
