Chytridiomycosis (chytrid) is a serious disease of amphibians that has been listed as a ‘key threatening process’ under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999.

In Australia, testing for chytrid prior to translocating or releasing amphibians is mandatory.

We test for chytrid in water samples using an eDNA approach. This establishes the presence of chytrid by analysing water samples where amphibians may be exposed.
