Dr Reid Tingley
PhD Biology

Reid is an applied ecologist with a penchant for data (especially if it’s spatial). As Lead of the Data Science team, he oversees the maintenance of EnviroDNA’s databases, develops automated workflows for sample processing and reporting, and harnesses the latest statistical and visualisation tools to deliver innovative products to clients.

Reid is also involved in research and development in his current role, drawing upon his 10 years of experience as an academic researcher. Reid’s research on the impacts of environmental change on species distributions has led to >75 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, which have been cited > 6000 times. A major component of Reid’s research has been to investigate the sensitivity and cost-efficiency of eDNA sampling, a research theme which dates back to 2013 (Smart et al., 2015, Ecological Applications). Reid’s ability to work closely with stakeholders on eDNA projects has been recognised by partners such as Melbourne Water, the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment, and San Diego Zoo Global.
