Sarah Licul

Scientist - eDNA
BA Science, Master of Science
- Biotechnology & Bioinformatics

Sarah grew up with a love of animals and the environment. She completed a bachelor’s degree in veterinary bioscience with a major in Zoology and went on to work in the veterinary industry for eight years. Sarah’s passion for science and curiosity for the molecular world soon took hold and she ventured back to university to complete a master’s degree. Biotechnology fascinated her as she strongly believes that harnessing biological processes to develop systems in the modern world is the future of science. Sarah’s research focused on protein biochemistry whilst working closely with pathogenic microorganisms, not to mention finishing top of her cohort (only the best at EnviroDNA if we do say so ourselves!).

In Sarah's words, she struck gold when she learned of the opportunity to work with EnviroDNA to combine cutting-edge scientific techniques with conservation and sustainability. She loves to get her hands dirty in the lab and can be found undertaking eDNA species assays for our clients, tissue sequencing, probe design, R&D and more!

Outside of her work with EnviroDNA, Sarah spends her time with her little family that comprises an adoring Australian Shepherd, named Doctor, and devotes most of her evenings training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and watching Marvel shows on Netflix.
