Genetic Footprints of Country: Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation & Traditional Owner eDNA Training Program
3 June 2026
The Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) partnered with EnviroDNA through the Traditional Owner eDNA Training Program.
In this project, GLaWAC undertake eDNA water sampling approaches for monitoring biodiversity at culturally significant sites around the Gippsland Lakes region. This case study explores how the training is delivered and the outcomes for Caring for Country.
Working closely with EnviroDNA, GLaWAC will lead sampling on Country across 30 sites over four seasons to build a comprehensive picture of species occurrence with measurable data.
We acknowledge the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation for their partnership and ongoing collaboration in this program. Filmed on Gunaikurnai Country, all footage has been captured and edited with thanks to Brendan Cohen.
