Water Kit
For eDNA sampling in freshwater, esturarine, and marine environments. Aquatic ecosystems are ideal for monitoring because DNA moves through water, providing valuable insights into the species present. Collecting water samples reveals insights into species in and around waterways.
Each kit contains:
-
Sample kit with data labels
-
Gloves
-
Large plastic syringe
-
Filters
-
Small preservation buffer syringes
Soil Kit
For eDNA sampling of soils in terrestrial environments. Soils host complex ecosystems that include a variety of bacteria, fungi, plants, invertebrates and animals. Sampling soil is an effective way to understand indicators of ecosystem health.
Each kit contains:
- Sample kit with data labels
- Gloves
- Soil mixing bag
- 5 mL vial(s)
Scat Kit
For eDNA species identification, monitoring and diet analysis. Scats contain an abundance of genetic information, and swabbing them provides a quick and effective way to capture DNA. These samples can help identify host species, reveal diet, or serve as an innovative method to detect species in a region through predator–prey interactions.
Each kit contains:
- Sample kit with data labels
- Gloves
- Preservation buffer
- Swab
Swab Kit
For eDNA monitoring using a broad swabbing technique. Broad swabbing is a versatile method for collecting environmental DNA from surfaces such as rocks, vegetation, or artificial structures. This approach captures DNA left behind by a range of organisms, allowing for detection of species presence and biodiversity monitoring.
Each kit contains:
- Sample kit with data label
- Gloves
- Preservation buffer
- Swab
Passive Air Kit (R&D)
Air eDNA sampling is an emerging technique for monitoring terrestrial biodiversity by capturing DNA present in the air. We are currently undertaking research and development on passive air sampling devices that collect DNA using cloth filters. These samplers can be secured to trees, posts, or other structures using occy or tie-down straps.
If you are interested in conducting an eDNA pilot air study, please contact us. In addition to the passive sampling devices, the following equipment is required:
-
Occy or tie-down/ratchet straps (or similar) for securing devices to trees or posts
-
Star pickets or poles if no trees are available at the sampling site
-
Ladder for devices secured above 2 m
-
Permanent marker or pen
